When Bohnsack found out there was an organization seeking to change these things, she began a mission to bring Isaiah 117 House to Lucas County. Bohnsack has been a foster parent for 12 years and has seen first-hand how difficult it is for children when they transition into the system.
At Temple Isaiah, every member feels embraced.
Paulson and her husband, Corey, are foster parents, and their Christian faith motivated them to create a loving transition space for children. The Logan County Foster Association, a group of foster mothers in the county, saw that there weren’t enough foster homes in the region. Many children entering the foster care system in the state are sleeping in DCBS offices and other government buildings waiting for placement. Isaiah 117 House is a home staffed with volunteers who provide children with care, clean clothes, warm food, and anything else they need.

In 2014, my husband, Corey, and I went through training to become foster parents. As part of our training, we attended a class at the Washington County, TN Department of Children’s Services office in Johnson City, TN. During that class, we were informed that when children are removed from their homes, they often must come to the DCS office and wait for placement. As I looked around the cubicle-filled space, I couldn't imagine a scared child sitting in such a sterile, cold environment waiting to learn their fate. That is when I believe God put on my heart the Isaiah 117 House. Another guest at Monday's ribbon cutting was Ronda Paulson, who founded the Isaiah 117 House organization in Tennessee.

Previously, Cantor Schloss served Temple Israel of New Rochelle, NY and Temple Ohabei Shalom in Brookline, MA.
Cantor Schloss received his Ordination and a Masters Degree in Sacred Music from the Debbie Friedman School of Sacred Music at Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion in New York. He also holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music from Cornell University and a Master of Music Degree in Vocal Performance from the New England Conservatory of Music. He has served on the Executive Board of the American Conference of Cantors and currently serves on the ACC Endowment Board of Trustees.
“For case workers, foster parents to rally like this and say ‘we need this here,’ that lets me know how big the need is,” Paulson said. "God knew this was the community to start this across the state of Indiana," Paulson told the ribbon cutting audience. The local house, like all Isaiah 117 properties, is white with a red door. Funds were raised to buy the $180,000 property and also cover the first year of the organization's annual budget, roughly $75,000. In person-centered therapy, The focus is on the person, not the problem. The goal is for the client to achieve greater independence.
Throughout his cantorate, Cantor Schloss has sought to create an environment of engaging, participatory worship through a rich blend of musical traditions, including his own compositions. There are more than 20 Isaiah 117 Houses across the United States. They serve as a place for children to transition into the foster care system if they do not have a placement at their time of entry. At Isaiah House, we offer a unique approach to addiction treatment that addresses the whole person.
